Ryu is one of the main characters in the anime who joins class Q after the commencement of classes, when class Q has to go with class A on a practice project (The mystery of the double sealed room). Ryu's cool, calm and quiet character, with an unexceptional intelligence that is at par with Kyuu makes Ryu a character to die for.
Ryu was initially detached from the rest of the members of class Q. But as the series progresses, he is shown to be from a bloodline of Pluto, the terrorist organization which patronizes crime and Morohike Dan's sworn enemies. Somehow, Ryu wants to get out from it all and he finds shelter in the fun and caring group of class Q.
