If you are in love with the old school anime please contribute here.

We'll not be debating the new series here, but try to share our thoughts on some of the older or underrated anime.

I would add - Macross and Bubblegum Crisis - to the list.

btw, how would you rate Yawara? I have seen mixed rating of this series.

Well it does get 'old' after Yawara gets infatuated with whatshisface... she becomes much more like a whiny girl... but overall... I would give is somewhere between 80-90% approval rating... but keep in mind that I saw the latter half of the anime as RAW and in Catalan... so... my perception might be skewed.... The 1st season was subbed by Live-eviL and some epi were released on R1 by.... err.... Funimation? No... Goddamit... AnimeEigo!!! Thats the one....

On a happier note.... My collection of Lupin is almost fully complete... its a monster of an anime.... by far the longest I have ever attempted to watch... I have seen only about 30-40% of it by my latest reckoning... and I have barely started on the movies and OVA's.... last count it was worth approx 60 gigs on my HDD....

Well the stuff I mainly like from the 80s and 90s are the OVA short series.  For the most part even if they were completely terrible but could still be hella entertaining.  Angel Cop, Mad Bull 34, Devilman, Violence Jack, and M.D. Geist just to name a few

No mention of MSG 0079? That's a little surprising!
From the 80s, the ones I can mention are the old school Studio Ghibli movies (Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind are the first two that come to my mind)...
Ninja Scroll (the movie) also comes to mind, but I honestly didn't enjoy it all that much. (Maybe because i made the mistake of watching it right after I'd watched Samurai Champloo).
Appleseed (there was an hour long OVA in the 80s, though I found the 2004 movie better, to tell the truth)
Jungle emperor (or, if you'd prefer, Kimba the White Lion)... can't really remember all too clearly, except that I remembered it when I was watching The Lion King.

Quite a lot come to mind concerning the 90s:
The original Eva series and the End of Evangelion movie... still easily among my favorites.

If you'd count the end of the 90s, probably some of the best of that decade (just my personal opinion here.. please excuse me) came out in 1998:
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Serial Experiments Lain
GTO
...too many to mention, really

Fantastic Children was an oldie I watched recently that deserves some praise, but my all time favorite is Now and Then, Here and There. It just seems like the old school anime have more depth or soul to them. I like crazy sometimes, but I also like the feeling of class or standards or just higher morals you get with most of the 80s and 90s media, anime included.

Fantastic Children might not look it, but it aired in 2004, so I doubt it'd qualify as an oldie just yet... ^^

Really?! Wow, I'm surprised anything with that much depth could be created after the year 2000. I guess the world's full o' surprises.
