Seen and read Azumanga Daioh...
But if it's anime...

My favorites come to any of the creations by Makoto Shinkai...
Even amongst those, I'll go for 5 centimeters per second :)
Life and emotions couldn't have been displayed any better than this :)

I haven't watched as much anime as you guys have, but I have decided to put a lot of Slice of Life anime on my list now. I started off with Haruhi (it IS slice of life), finished watching REC. I liked REC. Short and cute. K-On! was more of moe-ness, but I prefered REC more to K-On!. Near after REC, comes Bakemonogatari.

My next bunch of anime would be: http://amalganation.forumotion.net/anime-shows-f19/my-anime-list-t16.htm#34 (See first post).

I think I have ample amount of Slice of life there, right? Please do give me suggestions.

Neither Haruhi nor Bakemonogatari is slice-of-life.

Anyway, have you tried Honey and Clover? Mushishi?

I liked Bamboo Blade. Another one would be Battle Programmer Shirase.

No need to be so... abrasive... Some other sites (Wikipedia for example) dont have these two listed as slice of life... guess it depends on where you look eh?

Personally I am not quite sure why exactly these 2 anime are categorized as slice of life at all... but then again I have only read the synopsis for Bakemonogatari...

Nothing can beat Honey and Clover. I'd have included Mushishi too, since it actually does have a lot of slice-of-life stuff, but it does have fantasy & horror parts as well. Ailes Grise (Haibane Renmei) and Absolute Boy (Zettai Shounen) are also very good shows too. Among recent shows, I would say Ghost Hound and House of Five Leaves.

Hmm You're Under Arrest and the Patlabor OVAs surprisingly.  Both could get silly at times, but there was still enough genuine character interactions and relationships to even things out.

I liked Honey and Clover (I & II) but it can be frustrating at times. If Clannad and Clannad Afterstory count, they'd be at the top of my list.
Laziness, or lack of effort, can best be avoided by the effort to avoid effort in the most effortless way.

Of those I've watched so far, I'd say To Heart and Beck.
Beck was a relatively serious take on the genre, while To Heart was more light hearted. No slapstick comedy in either one though.
