Samurai X OVA Trust & Betrayal
« on: April 16, 2007, 10:12:44 PM »
Samurai X: Trust and Samurai X: Betrayal, known in Japan as Tsuiokuhen (???, Recollection?) is the first OVA series of the anime series Rurouni Kenshin and is set during the downfall of the Tokugawa shogunate.

Telling the story of Kenshin's as a child to his early adulthood. The OVA tells the life of Kenshin starting with his tragic childhood, becoming Hitokiri Battousai and meeting his first wife, Tomoe Yukishiro. Kenshin is nine years old at the start of the OVA and eighteen by the end. The OVA is set during the last years of the Bakumatsu up to the start of the Boshin War.

i really hope Animax shows this, but they probably wont because of the violence and gore...

Trust and Betrayal is one of the best if not the best Anime releases on anything. It ranks number 1 in the top 200 anime here

I really dont see any reason to NOT show this.... but what do I care.....

If you miss out on this you should find a hole to bury yourself in.... especially if you claim to be an RK fan....

One of the best indeed.... but certainly there will be better in the future......

It would be nice if they did show it.I would really want to see how tomoe died and the one thing I desperately want to see is the enishi saga and the enishi vs kenshin battle. As for the whole gore and violence part it is notgoing to be a problem because there are more gory shows right now on animax but there is still a little mature content in the whole thing I suppose.Well there is always youtube if animax doesnt air it.

New sig and avatar by me^^ I now take requests.

The Enishi (I.E Jinchuu arc) is severely cut short and is seen in the Reflections OVA. Only Enishi makes an appearance for a short while.

Tomoes death is seen in Trust and Betrayal. The story is again different from the manga but not too much (in this case)

If a channel can air Onegai Teacher and Fuushigi Yuugh there is nothing objectionable in any of the RK OVA's

Animax has aired those shows in the past. Or did you not remember? If they could air those shows (Esp Onegai Teacher) then I dont think there should be any morality issue for airing all the RK OVA's

Enishi is not there in Trust and Betrayal. Read my post again please.....

I have the Series on DVD... youtube is of no use to me for this series.....

Be careful with the spoilers people.

So yeah...... Enishi does show up....... for like 10 seconds... and as a kid... not as a burly guy with a sword who has a chance of challenging Kenshin......

lol.. ok i know, but there really shud be a way of totally blanking out the text we write (other than not writing at all i mean!!)

anyway, the entire story of trust and betrayal is the flashback sequence that kenshin narrates, in the manga.. and i must dsay it was nice to have animated it.. kudos to the animators who did such a great job!! ( though they really shudn't hv changed those connections i found, linking the story to the series...)

The stuff linking Enishi To Shishio? Yeah... but if they plugged all of that into the anime then it would become even longer.... (Not that I would have minded) but then they would have exceeded their budgets probably.

About the Spoiler thing, instead of posting it in another thread all together, we can type it in a very light colour, so that u have to highlight the text and read

like this

yellow seems to be a good enough choice

It is still pretty easy to read. Why are you wanting to post them here anyway? Is there actually any point to it?

This is off topic so dont pursue this any further. Not here in this thread anyway.

This is where Kenshin got his famous X mark on his face and where it all started. Anyone still longing a conversation for Samurai X fans?

This is one of the sweetest animes I have ever seen. Lifted right from the pages of the manga, it takes Watsuki's story, darkens it and fleshes it out with sumptuous natural backdrops, Eastern symbolism and character development that we don't see and actually makes it even more awesome.
There were a few quibbles I had, such as the characterization of Kenshin's fight with the Yaminobu, but those are minor considerations.
Overall, Tsuiokuhen follows the manga and tells the story with vivid imagery in a riveting manner.
