L all the way - just like Kyo said - no comparison in any possible way. If we had to make an equation, it would be:

^ THIS is a VERY debatable equation, but my reasoning is:

Well, L, by himself wasn't able to apprehnd Kira. Even though L's suspicions were nearly upto 99% that Kira was Light, L STILL wasn't able to catch Light. It that respect, when Near and Mello worked together, they were (even though Mello died) able to catch not just Kira but also Mikami Teru.

^ And that warrants a better position than even L. Yet, like I said, my equation is highly debatable.

Teru was nothing compared to Light... and Light only got caught cause of his own mistakes.... also include the fact that Near and Mello had all of L's files and previous investigations to look at... including that ingenious plan he had used to narrow down the range of suspects to one city... Near and Mello dont hold a candle to L... they got lucky... and even so... one of them STILL died before they caught Light...
